TVAREF
Seed Grant Program - Committee and Board Guidelines
Purpose
The Seed Grant Committee Guidelines are endorsed by the Board
of Directors of the Tampa VA Research and Education Foundation
(TVAREF). The Committee is to oversee the review of applications
for eligibility, scientific merit, and ranking of the proposals
to be presented to the TVAREF Board of Directors for their
final approval for funding.
Evaluation
Process
Evaluation of TVAREF grants will be reviewed by the Seed Grant
Committee consisting of Larry Carey, M.D., Larry Solomonson,
Ph.D., William Gower, Ph.D., Scott Barnett, Ph.D., Lelia Barks,
Ph.D., Brian Schulz, Ph.D., Mary Bowen, Ph.D., Mini Sajan,
Ph.D., and Niketa Patel, Ph.D.. Additional subject matter
experts will be utilized as Ad Hoc reviewers when necessary.
The Seed Grant Committee will review the grant applications,
approve or disapprove applications, rank the applications,
and present a recommendation to the Board for funding of the
top four applications based on their scores.
The
primary goal of the 2013 TVAREF Seed Grant Program is to provide
support to investigators that seek money to collect additional
data for potential VA Merit and Federal grant funding, which
advance the research program at the James A. Haley VA Hospital.
To measure the success of the TVAREF seed grant program and
its impact on the VA Research program at the James A. Haley
VA Hospital, the Board of Directors will monitor the outcomes
of the funded grants. This will be accomplished by submission
of a final report by each of the awardees.
Grants
awarded by TVAREF in 2013 shall not exceed $5,000 per project
and a total of 4 seed grants will be funded.
Board
of Directors Review Process:
- Ratify
or modify the Seed Grant Committee recommendation
- Decision
for funding grants is the ultimate decision of the Board
of Directors
Notification
All applicants will be notified of the outcome of the reviews
of their proposal. For more information concerning grants
